2012x365:

24/365 : Identity
The prompt for today was “identity.”
I feel that this is fitting because these handprints & names were placed here when me, my brothers, and my friends were all kids. I can’t remember how old we were, but this is easily at least 13 years old, and really probably older than that.
My neighborhood was still under construction at that time, and somehow my mom was able to get the workers to let us carve our names & make handprints. I didn’t make a handprint, which I really do regret, but I still love this. It’s right outside of my house. (:
Not in this photo is my littlest brother’s handprint, which is on the far side & which I wasn’t able to capture in the same shot as these. The handprint of another friend of mine, named Brittany, is also not pictured.
The handprint in this photo belonged to my best friend. (I haven’t spoken to him in over 10 years; we lost contact when I moved away, although now I’m back in the house I lived in as a kid.) I found out while I was taking these pictures that my hand as it is now fits perfectly into that print… My hands are so tiny. “OTL
It’s amazing for me to think about how many hundreds of people have passed by and seen this over the years without knowing the story, memories, and people behind it.
